Tiny Dancer

Today Kelsey started her first dancing class. Its a combo tap and ballet class for two year olds. It is the cutest thing I've ever seen! Kelsey was excited at the idea of dance class but once we had to put on the outfit she wanted NOTHING to do with it. It took a lot of bribery but we made it out the door with our leotard and tights on and our shoes packed. She was pretty clingy for the first half of class which is tap but she warmed up for ballet and really got into it at the end. She even came home and wanted to put her ballet shoes back on!

Ready for class (this is our new camera smile)

Maybe one day another ballerina....but for now we're happy chewing on our hand

Once the teacher broke out the ribbons Kelsey forgot all about needing Mommy close by!

Enjoying a ballerina treat after class - whole milk and a scone :)

Run Mommy, Run!

This weekend I ran a 5k through Iron Girl with my good friend Tessa. We started training about five weeks ago when we discovered the race. We both have not ran in quite some time and were a little slow going. But we worked through the pain of getting our muscles and joints used to running again and we managed to run the entire time! We ran a little over 10 minute miles and finished 460 and 462 out of 1,277 in the 5k. Not too bad!

Our fans waiting to cheer us on

Are we there yet?

Off we go!

We did it!!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Today was Chuck's 33rd birthday. To celebrate we went to the Evergreen State Fair. Kelsey had a blast eating the treats and going on some of the rides. She even got brave and checked out all of the animals...although we did leave many of their areas rather quickly :) Josie slept through the whole thing...hopefully next year she'll get to enjoy it!

Starting off the morning with his girls

While waiting to buy tickets for the rides Kelsey got her groove on

We started slowly on the rides with a good old standby

Then onto the train

After the train Kelsey wanted to try out the big slide. She had a blast! I think this was by far her favorite.

Curly fries - yum!

Fancy drink!

Time to leave with one tired kiddo

She was out within 30 seconds of leaving the parking lot

Chuck followed suit shortly after :)

All week Kelsey talked about making Daddy birthday cupcakes and she practiced singing the birthday song and blowing out candles. She got rather camera shy with the singing but was thrilled to help with the candles!

Quiet Time

Kelsey has decided to give up napping lately and so we've started quiet time where she is to play quietly up in her room. Every day she tells me she doesn't need a nap and that she's not tired. So I tell her she has to still do quiet time and she can just play or read. Typically she plays for about 30 minutes and then she sits at the top of the stairs calling to come down. After about 20 minutes she usually passes out for a good hour long nap.

On days when she refuses to do quiet time or any sort of a nap this is what our days look like....

Ahhhh....toddlerhood...its rough! :)

Take Me Out To The Ball Game

Today Josie and I went to the Mariner's game with our good friend Stacy. We had great seats and fantastic weather! Josie slept through the first 5 innings but got to enjoy the last few :) She must have brought good luck because after she woke up we took a huge lead and ended up winning 10-3 over the Yankees. Go M's!

Josie Turns 1....Month

Josie turned one month recently...where did the time go? She had her check up last week and she is already up to 9lbs 13oz and is 21.75 inches. Josie is starting to smile more often now and she especially loves to smile for Kelsey. She does love her big sister!

Heat Wave

With record temps in the Seattle area we decided to head down to Nana and Papa's for a little air conditioned relief. We had lots of fun doing everything we could to stay cool!

Before we went to Nana and Papa's, this is how we spent most of our time at home - parked in front of fans.

Enjoying the first of many icy treats at Nana and Papa's

Being goofy with Nana's glasses

In Corvallis we checked out the spray park with Nana

We headed west to Newport where it was a chilly 62 degrees. As you can see we were prepared for temps in the 100s...not in the 60s.

A little wind and 60 degree weather never stopped anyone from digging in the sand!

Warming up a bit with Nana

The sea lions in Newport were quite a hit!

Cooling off in the sprinkler

Thoroughly enjoying the pool!
