First Haircut

Kelsey's hair had gotten quite long and a little stringy looking. I'd tried to talk her into getting her haircut like Mommy for quite some time but she would hear nothing of it. I think she was worried that cutting her hair would hurt.

One day I decided I couldn't stand her hair anymore and took matters into my own hands. After her bath I pulled out the hair shears while she was brushing her teeth, stood behind her and just cut off some while she wasn't really paying attention. Thankfully she seemed ok with it once she realized what was going on so I proceeded to cut the rest of it. I kept it on the longer side since I'm no professional and its easier to hide mistakes that way :) Overall I'm quite impressed at how well it turned out! And she keeps saying that she needs to get her haircut again so I guess she liked the results too!

Father's Day

For Father's Day Nana and Papa came into town for the weekend. Oh what fun it was! The girls had great fun having two additional playmates around! They sure are lucky to have such a wonderful Daddy and Papa to celebrate with!

Relay For Life 2010

For the fifth(?) year in a row I participated in the Issaquah Relay for Life event. This year it meant even more to me since my mom's diagnosis of breast cancer last year. Thanks to modern medicine it was caught very early on and she seems to have made a full recovery after treatment. Thanks to everyone who supports me in this wonderful event each year!

Goodbye Hoveys!

Our good friends the Hoveys moved back down to California this month :( The Worsleys hosted a wonderful going away party for them. We lucked out and had it on one of the first nice days around here. We all had a wonderful time! Elaine - we're missing you and your family already and can't wait for your first trip home!

Go Mariners!

For Christmas I got Chuck a gift card for 4 seats are a Mariner's game. We finally decided to use it thinking that Kelsey would enjoy watching the game for at least a few innings and that Josie would be fascinated with everything going on. Boy were we wrong! We made it through the first pitch before the girls were ready to head home :) Josie mainly wanted to practice her "walking" skills and refused to sit and be held. Kelsey was very concerned on where the Mariner Moose was at all times (apparently he's "very scary") and just wanted to go home. At least we beat the traffic getting out of the stadium!

Soccer anyone?

We signed Kelsey up for soccer through the YMCA with her buddy Matt. Matt's dad was coaching the team so we thought she'd love it. Well, unfortunately she did not. She wanted NOTHING to do with it in fact. She loved to watch but that was about it. Needless to say we will be waiting until she asks to play next time :)

EKELSY

Kelsey's latest obsession is writing letters. Particularly K's (she thinks the K is her full name since we always say "K for Kelsey"). I was telling her how to actually spell her name and she wrote down all of the letters and got them mostly in order. She seemed baffled why I told her to add a second E and so she decided to add it to the start of her name. :)

Lesson Learned

Never leave a 10 month old alone in their car seat with a teething biscuit...unless you don't mind a huge mess to clean up :)

Trip to Oregon

For Mother's Day weekend we headed down to Oregon to visit my parents. We had quite a fun and relaxing visit. We were a little worried how the girls would do sleeping wise as Josie has never done great in the pack n play and Kelsey was going to use her sleeping bag to sleep in Nana and Papa's room. Much to our surprise Josie did great after the first night and Kelsey did awesome as well. The girls even took their naps with no problems. I guess Nana and Papa's house is exhausting ;) Since they were sleeping so well, Chuck and I even got to go out on a date night. Sadly we were back home by 10:30 since we are apparently so old we can no longer stay awake too late ;) But it was still great to get out sans kids!
