Party!

For Kelsey's third birthday we did a joint party with her best buddy Matt - who happens to share her same birthday. We went to Northshore Gymnastics Center and the kids had a blast! Surprisingly Kelsey didn't take any nap and Josie only napped for about 40 minutes after the party. I guess they were too excited to play with all the wonderful gifts everyone gave Kelsey. Thanks to all who made it!

Josie got in on the action as well!

Squares

Yesterday was my birthday and Kelsey decided that morning she wanted to make me a gift. Here is the conversation that followed that decision:

Chuck: Hey Kels, whatcha making?

Kelsey: A present for Mommy

Chuck: What are you making her?

Kelsey: Squares

Chuck: Squares, huh? That's an interesting gift

Kelsey: Yeah, I'm pretty good at them

I must say - she is pretty good at them :) The best birthday gifts are the ones made with love!

Mothers Helper

Kelsey is such a wonderful big sister to Josie. She loves to help out with her and be her little mother. Its great to have an extra set of hands some days! Yesterday she fed Josie her lunch and did a good job of getting most of it in her mouth :)

Recess Monkey

This last weekend Kelsey and I met our friends Tehya and Tracy at a Recess Monkey concert. The girls had a blast (as did I)! We can't wait to see them again!

Best Buds

This song (Down Down Down) is about a roller coaster ride which is why you hear the screaming with the Down Down Down verse. The kids all thought that was great!

Valentine's Dance

Kelsey's preschool had a Valentine's Day Dance as a fundraiser this year. As usual Kelsey took some time to warm up but once she got into it there was no stopping her groove thing :)

Our little wall flower dancing in the corner :)

Getting a little more warmed up but still hiding out in the corner

And here is the Kelsey we know! :)

Their first father - daughter dance.....awwwww :)

Sleep Study

Last night Kelsey had her sleep study to determine whether or not she has sleep apnea. For over a year Chuck and I have noticed her gasping for air when sleeping (a common symptom of apnea). She also has many other common symptoms such as waking up extremely sweaty, low weight gain, and snoring. It was horrible to watch (and help) my little girl get hooked up to at least 20 wires screaming at the top of her lungs the whole time. But she was very brave and left everything alone once it was on. She actually slept most of the night only waking up a couple of times.

I'm torn on if I want the results to come back as positive or negative. I'm hoping for positive just so I didn't put her through this experience for nothing. But I'm hoping for negative so we don't have to do any corrective surgery or use a c-pap machine. Either way we have to wait a month before we get results.

As a distraction tactic I told Kelsey we'd document our "fun" sleep study with our cameras. Here are a few pictures from our adventure.

Off we go!

Coloring in the waiting room

Documenting changing into PJs

All dressed and ready to get wired up

The end result - I don't know how anyone can sleep with this on but she was asleep within 15 minutes of this picture.

Hooray! All done!

A special Starbucks treat for the very brave girl!

Sound asleep by 10:30am - usually its a fight to get her to nap before 1pm :)

Daddy's Girl

Josie has been practicing "talking" a lot lately. She's really hard to catch on camera though. The second you pull it out she either squeals with delight because she's trying to take the camera from you - or she starts fussing. Luckily I caught a tiny bit this morning. Her favorite word is dada and sometimes she says baba or lala. Hopefully her next one is mama ;)

The Park

With our house on the market we've typically been going for drives when people come over for a showing. But this particular day it was quite warm so we took Kona for a walk over to the park. Both girls had a grand time on the swings! And Kelsey learned firsthand that its always safer to push from behind ;)

Zoo Outing

It had been a while since we'd utilized our zoo membership so we invited our friends Tessa, Matt and Alivia to come on an outing with us. I was most impressed by Kelsey! She is typically afraid of most of the animals and we end up leaving after maybe an hour. This time around she wanted to see a majority of the animals (as long as they weren't making "scary noises"). Josie seemed fascinated with everything too and didn't nap the entire time!

All bundled up and ready to go!

Kelsey loved this elephant and surprisingly Matt was scared of it - usually its the other way around!

As you can see in this picture the orangutang came up for a closer look at the kids. Matt is taking off running and Kelsey is just pushing away from the window. It was a little too close for their liking!

Hey - where did they go?

Of course both kids didn't seem to mind the HUGE snake at all...go figure :)

Firestation Field Trip

In January Kelsey's preschool went on a field trip to the Redmond Firestation. Most of the kids loved it - Kelsey was not one of those kids :) So I wasn't able to get many pictures due to the clinging toddler around my neck. But overall we still had a good time and got a fun firehat and coloring book out of the deal.
